minutesThis dish is very famous in South India. People eat it mainly for breakfast, but it’s good any time. Idlis are very simple to make and can be a very light yet full meal.
Ingredients
2 cups long grain rice
1 cup urad dal
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp fenugreek seed
Directions
- First, rinse the dal and rice. Soak for about 8 to 10 hours. Soak the fenugreek seeds for around 2 hours.
- Then, grind the dal, fenugreek seed, and rice. The consistency should be like pancake batter.
- Cover the pan and put the oven or any other slightly warm place to ferment for about 8 to 10 hours.
- Now, add salt and mix. Then, take an idli maker and put it on the gas.
- Spread oil on the idli stand and add the batter. Steam for about 6 to 8 minutes on high heat. Keep the cover on the idli maker for about 2 minutes.Your idlis are ready!
- Serve with chutney and sambhar.
- note: make whole urad dal , make more soft.
