Butter Naan (indian Bread)

Naan, flatbread and a  must eat at an Indian restaurant is traditionally baked inside blazing-hot clay ovens (Tandoor). I am presenting a homemade version that  is actually quite easy to make on a hot skillet and stove top and is fluffy, crispy outside/ soft inside and very tasty.

Dhaba style Butter Dal with Tandoori Roti

Dal roti is a staple food in North India.  It is a wholesome food, and usually people eat it for  dinner or lunch. Dhabas are roadside restaurants and dal roti is the most famous and popular dish there. Dhabas serve dals with tandoori roti (flatbread made with whole wheat and traditionally cooked in tandoor (cylindrical clay oven) hence the name tandoori).  It’s almost always served with some ghee or butter on top.

Dal roti is fairly easy to make and I tried making tandoori rotis at home (using a toaster instead of the usual tandoor) and it came out pretty well. All the ingredients are typically available at home.

Moong Daal Kachori with Aloo and Chole Curry

Moong dal kachori is a very tasty and filling snack, very popular in North India. It is very delicious served as standalone but yum factor will increase when served with aloo sabji and choley along with chutney. Main ingredients are whole wheat flour and moong dal.
It is a bit of work to prepare but you will forget all the work when you enjoy the taste.

Roasted Tomato Crostini

This is a very elegant appetizer and perfect for serving to guests with some wine! It’s not too much work to make and relatively healthy as well, but looks and tastes amazing!

Baked Brie and Bread Wreath

Over the holidays, I prepared this brie and bread wreath. Although it’s perfect to serve for Christmas or New Year, it’s an elegant dish for any occasion and serves as an excellent appetizer for any crowd. The bread is incredibly soft and delicious (and would be great with butter or other cheeses as well) – your guests won’t be able to resist!

Copycat Cheesecake Factory Honey Wheat Bread

We sometimes eat dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and I always admire the atmosphere and of course the food, but the best part is the brown bread they serve. It’s delicious and full of flavors. I tried making it at home, and I wanted to share my copycat recipe – it truly tastes exactly the same. When you bake this, your whole house will fill with the smell of molasses and freshly baked bread!
