Many people enjoy eating maka ki roti (corn flatbread), but roti isn’t the easiest thing to make. Here is the recipe for cheelas, which are very easy to make; the cooking part is very similar to the way you cook a pancake. They taste delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn flour

  • 2 cup water or more

  • 2 tsp green chilly or to taste

  • 2 tsp ginger – finely chopped

  • 2 tsp minced garlic

  • 2 tsp red chilly powder or to taste

  • 2 tsp salt or taste

  • oil for roasting

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 cup radish (grated) or methi leaves (finely chopped)

Directions

  • Mix everything except the oil and make a batter with the same consistency as pancake or cake batter. keep aside for about 20 minutes.
  • Take a nonstick pan and put it on the stove at slow heat. When the pan is heated,  spread oil on it. mix and if need add water.
  • Pour the mix on the pan and make a big circle with a diameter of about 8 inches and about a 1/2 inch thick. Spread oil on the cheela.
  • Cook both sides on slow heat. Both sides should be golden brown and the inside should be crisp.
  • Ready! Serve with sarson ka saag!

Notes

  • Note: Cooking the cheela requires patience .
  • Makka roti is not easy to make for everyone but this cheela recipe is easy to make.
