These cheelas are a great way to start eating protein for breakfast. You can prepare for this recipe the day before so that all you have to do in the morning is cook the cheelas. Serve with tea, dahi or green chutney. Compared to green mung, brown mung (moth) is easier to digest and tastes great.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown mung – soaked 5 to 6 hours and sprouted

  • 2 green chilli or to taste – chopped

  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves

  • 1 inch ginger

  • Pinch of hing

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp salt or to taste

  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour

  • 1 medium onion – finely chopped

  • Oil for roasting

Directions

  • Add mung, green chilly, ginger, hing. in the blender.
  • Grind until smooth and  add onion, chickpea flour and red chili powder, salt, coriander leaves mix and keep aside for about 15 minutes.
  • Now, start a fry pan on medium heat and spread oil.
  • Wait until the fry pan is hot (about 2 minutes).
  • Then spread the batter like a pancake.
  • Spread the oil on both sides and roast both sides till golden brown.
  • Make all in the same manner and keep aside.
  • Serve with chutney and dhai.
