Guava (Amrood) Ice Cream

minutesGuava is a popular summer fruit and is cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions. This unique flavor kulfi recipe uses fresh guavas. To enhance flavor, I added a bit of rock salt and red chili flakes (May sound weird but makes something unique). You can eat it during fasting time also by skipping corn starch.
Ingredients
1 cup whole milk
200 ml fresh whipping cream
⅓ cup milk powder
⅓ cup sugar
⅓ cup condensed milk
1 tbsp cornstarch
4 small guavas (2 medium guavas) – ripe. Cut, remove seeds and purée
½ tsp black salt – optional
½ tsp red chili powder – optional
½ cup finely chopped guava – optional
Directions
- Add milk in the pan and bring to boil on medium heat.
- Add cornstarch to I tbsp milk and dissolve it so that there are no lumps
- Add cornstarch mix to boiling milk and keep stirring the milk (About 1 minute)
- Add sugar and mix until dissolved.
- Whip the whipping cream for about a minute and add to boiling milk and keep stirring
- Add condensed milk, milk powder and guava purée and keep stirring till you get a consistent mix.
- Add ¼ tsp red chili flakes, ¼ tsp salt and ¼ cup chopped guava (optional).
- Mix and pour in an airtight container.
- Freeze for about 7 to 8 hours.
- Garnish with salt,red chili flakes and remaining chopped guava pieces (Optional).
- Enjoy!
