minutesWe recently went apple picking, and so I’ve been making a lot of apple juice. Something I realized is all the nutritious, fiber-filled pulp is going to waste right now and I wanted to try to make something new with it. From this came my apple halwa–it takes just ten minutes of preparation to create this elegant dessert. It’s also really filling, which makes it great for fasting since it’s filled with nuts, sugar, and of course the apple pulp.
Ingredients
2 medium sized red delicious apples
⅓ cup of sugar or to taste
⅓ cup of ghee or butter
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp cashew nuts – finely chopped
2 dates – finely chopped
1 tsp almond slice
Few flakes of saffron
Directions
- First grate the apple or if you juice it use the pulp.
- Take a fry pan and add ghee or butter. When it’s warm, add cashews and fry till golden brown and keep aside.
- Now, at medium heat, add apples and stir with ghee for about 10 to 12 minutes or until the aroma comes.
- Add saffron and stir, then add sugar.
- Add cinnamon and dates. Mix for about 1 or 2 minutes.
- Close the gas and put the halwa in a serving bowl.
- Garnish with nuts and 2-3 flakes saffron and enjoy hot halwa!
Notes
- Use fresh apple and sweet.
