This is a very simple yet delicious and nutritious curry. Served with chapati and dal, this makes a good full meal. Cabbage is blended with spices and made into a delicious curry.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium size cabbage (patta gobhi) – finely chopped

  • 1 cup peas (mattar)

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 2 green chili – finely chopped or to taste

  • 1 tsp red chili powder or to taste

  • 2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 2 tsp dry coriander powder

  • 1 tsp amchoor powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds

  • Pinch of hing

  • 2 tsp salt or taste

  • 2 tbsp oil

Directions

  • Start a fry pan with oil on medium heat.
  • Add mustard seeds, hing, and cumin seeds, and wait until the seeds crackle.
  • Now add spices: turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
Mix together and cover for about 10 minutes or until the cabbage is tender. Keep stirring every 2 minutes so the curry doesn’t burn. Keep the heat low.
Once the cabbage is tender, mix in garam masala and amchoor powder, and cover for about 2 more minutes. Close the heat.
Keep the lid on for about 5 minutes.
Ready! Serve with chapati and paratha.

Notes

  • Ready! Serve with chapati or paratha. You can also make a sandwich, just stuff the curry in the bread slices and roast in a panini maker.
