Banana toffee pies

Try my new sweet dish! It takes a little bit of preparation and patience, but when you serve and eat it, all of your work will be worth it!

Ingredients

  • 14 oz/2 cans sweetened condensed milk

  • 6 tbsp butter – melted

  • 5½ oz graham crackers, crushed into crumbs

  • 1/2 cup hazelnuts, toasted and ground

  • 1¼ oz almonds, toasted and ground

  • 4 ripe bananas

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 cups heavy cream – whipped

  • 2¼ oz chocolate flakes

Directions

  • Place the cans of milk in a large pan and cover them with water.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let simmer for about 2 hours. Top up the water level regularly to keep the cans covered.
  • Carefully lift out the hot cans and let cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 350f.
  • Grease 4 individual loose-bottom tartlet pans with butter.
  • Put the remaining butter into a bowl and add the crackers and nuts.
  • Mix together well, then press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the tartlet pans.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and and let cool.
  • Open the cans of condensed milk and spread the contents over the cracker layer over the cracker layer in the tartlet pans.
  • Garnish with whip cream, chocolate flakes, and the sliced banana
